This month marks the start of kitten season, when intact cats in the Northern Hemisphere tend to have the first of their year’s litters. That also means our shelters and rescue groups go into overdrive. What can you do to help? Spay or neuter your kitty, of course, and consider adopting a rescue. As an author, I also try to help by donating to fundraisers, like the Ellen M. Gifford’s spring soiree, “A Feline Affair.” The Gifford shelter is the nation’s first and oldest no-kill careless shelter. (You can find out more about the shelter itself here.)
